For instance, when I install my iBook 10.4.3 and update to 10.4.11, Software update then wants Java release 4,5,6,7,8 & 9. A real pain but I have these on a server at home. If you start with a late 10.4 from an Intel Mac, say 10.4.10 on a Mac mini (Mid 2007), then many of them are probably included on the original install. Now I am able to load the applet on MAC OS X 10.4.11. But i had a problem with applet functionality. My applet will display the map image. Applet contains the navigation arrow keys at the top left of my applet.
I just saw that Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 6 is now available from. At first I thought this was 'Java 6', but it's not.
As you see from the release notes shown below it really updates either Java 5 or Java 1.4: 'Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 6 delivers improved reliability and compatibility for Java 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 and Java 1.4 on Mac OS X 10.4.10 and later. This release updates J2SE 5.0 to version 1.5.013 and Java 1.4 to version 1.4.216.' I haven't seen anything about this on Apple's website yet, but found it this morning when running the Software Update program.
